Our technology is adopted and trusted by the world’s leading insurers.<br><br><strong>The Data &amp; AI Engineering Team 🤖:</strong></p> <p>The Data &amp; AI Engineering team designs, builds, and maintains the platform that powers all of Shift’s products and features used by insurers. We bring together Data, Software, and ML/AI Engineers to tackle a broad range of technical challenges. Here are just a few of the areas we work on:</p> <ul> <li>Predictive ML models, RAG systems and advanced agentic AI workflows for scoring and decisions;</li> <li>Data storage: relational, NoSQL, and vector databases;</li> <li>Data pipelines: ingestion, cleaning, transformation, and enrichment;</li> <li>Unstructured data processing: text and documents;</li> <li>Entity linking, entity resolution, and network detection using graph algorithms</li> </ul> <p>Working closely with forward-deployed Data Scientists, we take end-to-end ownership of these components: from designing the architecture and implementing solutions together to overseeing deployments and maintaining and improving systems in production.<br><br><strong>Your key responsibilities🧑‍💻:</strong></p> <p>You’ll own a feature of Shift’s Data &amp; AI platform involving large language models (LLMs) and agentic workflows, from initial exploration to production, which will improve our fraud detection or payment integrity models. You’ll be responsible for:</p> <ul> <li>Understanding the business problem with our clients, Product teams, and domain experts</li> <li>Exploring the state of the art, testing approaches, and identifying what works best for your use case</li> <li>Designing the solution alongside our Architects and AI Research Lab</li> <li>Building and integrating your feature within a cross-functional squad</li> <li>Evaluating and improving performance, measuring accuracy (precision / recall) and latency</li> <li>Deploying your feature into production in collaboration with our forward-deployed Data Scientists</li> </ul> <p>Along the way, you’ll discover how Sales, Product, Engineering, Research, Data Science, Security, and other teams work together to deliver AI products to clients. Your work will go beyond a prototype: you’ll help put an AI feature into production, powering solutions used by insurers around the world.</p> <ul> <li><strong>Your profile and requirements✅:</strong></li> </ul> <ul> <li>You are currently enrolled as a Master&#39;s degree student in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or Big Data.</li> <li>You possess strong technical skills in <strong>Python</strong> and <strong>Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)</strong>.
