Senior Infrastructure Automation Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Infrastructure Automation / DevSecOps Engineer to support the further development and automation of an existing vulnerability management platform for a public-sector client in Germany. The role focuses on Infrastructure as Code, Linux automation, virtual machine provisioning, API integrations, security, and infrastructure connectivity. You will work closely with existing infrastructure and operations teams to further develop the automation environment and ensure reliable, secure, and well-documented infrastructure. Tasks • Take over and validate technical infrastructure specifications • Further develop and maintain the Infrastructure as Code (IaC) environment • Create and maintain Linux images and configurations • Automate virtual machine provisioning using Terraform • Integrate existing Vault and credential management processes • Develop REST API integrations and automation scripts • Perform network integration and connectivity testing • Carry out functional, performance, and security testing • Produce technical documentation and support the handover to operations Requirements • Strong hands-on experience with Proxmox • Strong experience with Terraform • Experience with Ansible • Strong Linux experience, particularly Ubuntu and/or RHEL • Programming and scripting experience with Python and Bash • Experience working with REST APIs • Solid networking knowledge, including: • VLAN • Routing • Multi-NIC environments • MTU • Experience with Git • Knowledge of security hardening, RBAC, and secrets management Nice to Have • HashiCorp Vault Enterprise • Packer • GitLab CI/CD • PAM and credential management • ITIL knowledge • Certifications such as RHCSA, RHCE, Terraform Associate, or equivalent Important Requirements • Fluent German, as German is the project language • Willingness to undergo Sü2 security clearance at the start of the engagement • Availability from September 2026 • Willingness to attend approximately 2–3 on-site appointments per year Benefits • 12-month contract with a long-term project perspective • 100% remote working model • Only occasional on-site appointments • Work on an infrastructure automation and DevSecOps project within the German public sector • Opportunity to work with technologies including Proxmox, Terraform, Ansible, Linux, Vault, and Infrastructure as Code Interested in the opportunity?
