Bangalore Tech Salaries in 2026: What the Numbers Say

Every few months someone forwards a salary screenshot to a group chat and the whole city recalibrates its self-worth. Here is a calmer look at where Bangalore tech compensation actually sits in 2026.
The broad strokes
- Entry-level software engineers at product companies cluster around ₹18–28 LPA total comp, with the top tier of new-grad offers pushing higher for specialised roles.
- Mid-level (4–7 years) engineers are the steady middle of the market — the band most companies compete hardest over, because they ship without much hand-holding.
- AI / ML and infra specialists carry a clear premium. The scarcer the skill, the flatter the negotiation.
What changed
Two things. First, equity is back: after a couple of cautious years, startups are once again leaning on stock to close senior candidates. Second, the remote premium compressed — fully-remote roles that once paid above local rates now mostly pay at them.
How to read an offer
Total comp is three numbers wearing a trench coat: base, variable, and equity. Ask which is which. A headline figure that's 40% "expected variable" is a very different job from one that's mostly base.
